Dallas and Orlando join Las Vegas and Atlantic City as World Championship Venues
May 9, 2008 - The World Championship of Fantasy Football announced the addition of Dallas, TX as a venue for the premier event in Fantasy Sports. The Gaylord Texan Resort and Conference Center will host many of the top fantasy football players in the world as part of the World Championship of Fantasy Football Main Event draft.
Up to 1,200 teams are eligible to participate in the WCOFF Main Event where one team will emerge as the World Champion and take home $300,000. In addition to overall awards, each of the 100 Main Event leagues feature a 1st place league award of $7,000.
New in 2008 is the introduction of the World Championship of Fantasy Football - Auction Division. The Auction format continues to grow in popularity and the organizers of the WCOFF felt it was time to declare a true World Champion in this format, "for years the WCOFF has hosted Auction drafts at various buy-in levels", commented Dustin Ashby. "We felt this year was the appropriate time to consolidate the various formats to create an overall award and Auction Division Champion". $25,000 will be awarded to the Overall Champion of the Auction Division format in 2008. In 2007, Brad Kruse and Bob Kruse captured the $650 Auction Division Championship and will be considered favorites heading into the 2008 Auction Division Main Event.
In addition to live events, the WCOFF hosts online Satellite leagues. New in 2008 is the introduction of the World Championship of Online Fantasy Football. An entry fee of $300 will provide fantasy players the opportunity to compete in a league and format similar to the WCOFF Main Event. "The WCOFF Satellite offering grew considerably in 2007 and we look forward to similar growth in 2008 with the introduction of a few new formats. We now have two formats providing fantasy players a chance to walk away with a $10,000 overall award", commented Ashby.
To register for the World Championship of Fantasy Football Main Event, submit a completed application from your venue of choice, Las Vegas, Dallas, Orlando or Atlantic City.
